This newest midsection was developed with assistance from General Motors. The frame rails are 55" wide with the width at the door bars reduced from the previous design by 5" per side. A 5" thick 11lb. energy absorbing crush box can be installed to reduce the effect of side impacts to the driver. The driver's seat is moved 5" toward the center of the chassis for added safety. A center or right shift transmission must be used. The length has been increased by 2" for added leg room. A redesign of the left vent post allows for improved visibility and cage integrity. A combination of different thickness 1-3/4" d.o.m. tubing is used to help control the bending direction in heavy impacts. Each mid section receives a serial numbered tag that is welded to the driver's side frame rail for future identification.
