SMALL FIVE HUB   STEEL   ALUMINUM Howe 5x5 hubs are so popular that they are the industry standard for 5x5 hub design. Designed not only for strength, but to minimize heat transfer from the rotor to the bearings. We recommend aluminum where allowed except for the right front on cars over 3000 lbs.   Note: Aluminum 5x5 hubs should not be subjected to extended use on the right front on asphalt tracks with more than 25 degrees of banking. These applications are within the tensile strength of a new aluminum hub, but may test the limits of older ones. In these applications we recommend steel on the right front. Torque bearing to 60' pounds aluminum and 40' pounds steel.
